I just have to share this amazing discovery, of a band named the Gungors. They released a new album last month, “Ghosts Upon The Earth”. Ben Thompson calls Gungor the “most musically and worship-inspired Christian musician [he’s] ever come across”. (Btw Ben has a story to tell here)
I love musical extemporization. It’s playing music and going with the flow of your intuition, without knowing the exact tune in your head. It’s improv at its greatest. Also kinda like the in-class ‘assignment’ I had this evening when I saw the assignment question for the first time. And Gungor just had all those elements in the 9 min song above and its overflowing with escalating emotions and paradigmatic calls to worship the Lord.
